Physics Research Group
at the University of Texas at Tyler
Research Physics research at UT Tyler focuses on various non-linear systems. Non-linear physics is a diverse and rich field that encompasses most of the world you see around you including the weather, patterns in sand on the beach, the physics of living organisms, and chaotic systems such as the stock market. At UTT, we study the patterns that form in starch solutions, how the weight of grain piles is supported, movement of polymers such as DNA in a temperature gradient, and the behavior of proteins in the cell membrane. We use both computational and experimental techniques to do this research.

YOU could be part of this exciting new field of research!  Opportunities exist for students of ALL majorsat UT Tyler.  Two semesters of either college or university physics is the only requirement.  Computer experience is helpful, but not necessary.  Contact Dr. Pearce or Dr. Back if you are interested.
